In order to obtain a license in the State of South Carolina, as a private investigator, a Surety Bond must be firnished. In addition to the South Carolina Private Investigator Bond, there are several other requirements that need to be met. To be licensed as a private investigator, you must:
have 3 years of experience as a private investigator with a licensed private investigative agency, or;
have 3 years as an investigator employed by a law firm, government agency, private corporation, nonprofit organization, or in an alternate capacity which may be determined as requisite experience
submit two sets of fingerprints for a background investigation
have no civil judgments against you
